What Students are Saying

I recently finished Brooke's intro to acting class, and it's an experience I'd recommend to any/everyone! I had never taken an acting class but was looking for a creative outlet - and was curious how things would go. With the way Brooke taught her class, the people, and the exercises/scenes it quickly became a consistent highlight of every week I was enrolled (by quickly I mean immediately) - so you will be very glad you made the decision to sign up regardless of your current acting exposure/experiences.

Brooke Totman is an actor, director and writer, appearing on stages in Los Angeles and Portland, and was a featured cast member on the television series, MadTV. She’s been bringing her talent and knowledge to the Portland area as both an artist and educator, for the last 20 years.

“Sometimes, I worry that I’m biased toward the spectacle of theatre—I love, love a big flashy show with all the bells and whistles. And then I see a show like 21ten Theatre’s LAUGHING WILD, and I remember that really great theatre doesn’t need any bells and whistles at all. A person in a chair delivering a 30-minute monologue can be just as riveting as a flying carpet, especially if that person is Brooke Totman. Her monologue is a master class in inhabiting a character”.
