What Students are Saying

If you've ever considered taking an acting class but feel nervous about it, Brooke is exactly the person you want to learn from. My initial goal was simply to try something new that got me out of my comfort zone and her Intro to Acting class seemed like a good fit. Everyone was nervous on the first day and feeling pretty green. Brooke was extremely welcoming right from the start and did a great job of moving us past our initial apprehension so we could focus on exploring who we are and how we tap into our emotions/experiences. She broke down the basics of character and scene development and encouraged us to observe and explore the world around us and use it to inform what we do. Brooke is kind, compassionate, supportive and funny which created an environment free of judgement or embarrassment. This made everyone feel comfortable and safe to just go for it. It was so much fun and I can't wait to take another class from her.

I love working with Brooke! She is an amazing teacher! She creates a super supportive environment, and she is a ton of fun. I've learned a ton from her, and I recommend her classes to any actor (new or experienced). They are a great place to learn, grow, and also make great acting friends. Check her out. You'll love her : ))

I thought it was important to share a new review. The Review below was my first review and now I want to mention that since then I was given a small part in a Feature Film. It is a small part but to be brand new in the industry and get an opportunity that early on is humbling but I would not have gotten that part if Brooke didn't push me to find what every Actor Must Find in any Performance. ( The Truth ) I didn't even know what that really meant before I met Brooke. 1st review I have no Acting Experience at all other than some Musicals in High School but it’s something that I have wanted to do ever since then but never took the Leap until I found Brooke Totman’s Acting Classes on line. I was so nervous but by the end of Class, on the “very first day” I was relaxed, confident and just elated. Brooke takes you on a Journey through your inter self that I can’t describe, you just have to sign up and see for yourself. Don’t think about it, just do it !!

Brooke has appeared on stages in Los Angeles and Portland and was a featured cast member on the television series MadTV. She’s been bringing her talent and knowledge to the Portland area, as both an actor and educator, for the last 15 years.

“Sometimes, I worry that I’m biased toward the spectacle of theatre—I love, love a big flashy show with all the bells and whistles. And then I see a show like 21ten Theatre’s LAUGHING WILD, and I remember that really great theatre doesn’t need any bells and whistles at all. A person in a chair delivering a 30-minute monologue can be just as riveting as a flying carpet, especially if that person is Brooke Totman. Her monologue is a master class in inhabiting a character”.
