The objective of these classes is to establish a foundation of TRUTH. Rooted in the Stanislavski method, acting classes focus on putting oneself in the shoes of the character through one’s imagination and sense of empathy – in doing this, students develop an acting process that originates from the inside out.
“If you are looking for something, don’t go sit on the seashore and expect it to come and find you. You must search, search, search with all the stubbornness in you!”
Ever thought of becoming an actor? Or wondered about the unplumbed depths of your own emotional psyche? Or maybe you just want to get to know your authentic self a little better? If any of those thoughts sound familiar, then Intro to Acting is a great place to start. Intro to Acting will help you develop fundamental acting tools: playing in action, living truthfully in imaginary circumstances, and working with a partner. No matter your experience, you’ll learn the basics of acting in an exciting and safe atmosphere.
Dates: Saturdays from 1-4pm. April 27th – June 1st. Number of classes: 6. Price: $325.

The truth is funny. Often times we forget that simply responding truthfully in comedic situations is enough. The objective of Acting for Comedy is to expose students to a broad range of comedic styles and techniques, while learning to serve the funny truthfully. This is a great acting class for experienced theater and film actors, improvisers, sketch comedy performers and new actors, looking to explore comedy.

The Audition Intensive:
Most directors and casting directors will tell you that they actually HATE the auditioning process. They hate putting actors under such pressure, they hate trying to judge if a person is right for a role in such a short amount of time, and they are well aware that some of the world’s most talented actors just don’t audition well.
But they’ll also tell you that it’s the best way we have. They have to see if you have the talent, if you look and sound the part, if you can take direction, if you’ll mesh with the rest of the company/cast. And so we audition. As an actor, I’ve had my fair share of auditions over the years. At first, I beat myself up. Then, I upped my preparation. Finally, I let it go. In my opinion, that’s the sweet spot. When you’ve done your work and can audition with confidence, then you know that everything that happens after that, is completely out of your control.
The Audition Intensive is all about technique and preparation. This Audition bootcamp will work on slating, making strong choices in the room, cold reading, call-backs and letting go!
*Each participant will be filmed, reviewed and given copies of all videos created in class.
Time: 11-4:00 p.m.
Limited to 12 participants.
