Does writing intimidate you? Does the fierce editor in your mind swoop in and stop you before you even get started? If that’s the case, then let’s change that! In Intro to Sketch we will use collaboration and trust to generate ideas in a supportive group setting. Get past your fears and move into the funny!

Intro to Sketch: The Writing Process, is designed to teach students the basics of sketch writing through premise generation, finding “the game”, heightening and character P.O.V. Students will write multiple sketches during class and learn to use the group collaboratively for premise generation, feedback and notes.

About The Author

After receiving a degree in Theater Performance from the University of Oregon, Brooke moved to Los Angeles where she was accepted into the training program of acclaimed sketch and improv company, the Groundlings. Eventually, Totman became a member of the Groundlings Sunday Company – writing and performing sketch comedy for a live audience on a weekly basis. During it’s 5th season, Brooke joined the television show MadTV, as a featured cast member.
