Intro to Sketch Comedy:
The Writing Process

Intro to Sketch: The Writing Process, is designed to teach students the basics of sketch writing through premise generation, finding “the game”, heightening and character P.O.V. Sketch critique and analysis will be studied and various types of sketch explored as each participant develops their own distinct point of view. Students will write multiple sketches during class and learn to use the group collaboratively for feedback and notes.

Dates: Sundays from 2-5.  Sept 9th –  Oct. 14th.  Number of classes: 6.  Price: $275.

Intro to Acting Class

Ever thought of becoming an actor? Or wondered about the unplumbed depths of your own emotional psyche? Or maybe you just want to get to know your authentic self a little better? If any of those thoughts sound familiar, then Intro to Acting is a great place to start. My Intro to Acting class will help you develop fundamental acting tools: playing in action, living truthfully in imaginary circumstances, and working with a partner. No matter your experience, you’ll learn the basics of acting in an exciting and safe atmosphere.

Dates: Thursdays from 6:30 – 9:30pm. Sept.13th – Oct.18th. Number of classes: 6. Price: $275.

About The Author

After receiving a degree in Theater Performance from the University of Oregon, Brooke moved to Los Angeles where she was accepted into the training program of acclaimed sketch and improv company, the Groundlings. Eventually, Totman became a member of the Groundlings Sunday Company – writing and performing sketch comedy for a live audience on a weekly basis. During it’s 5th season, Brooke joined the television show MadTV, as a featured cast member.
